Information for ASAC members:-

Sorry but due to adverse weather this has been postponed again.

Now possibly August or September

Resurgam

Why – submarine (14m long, 3m diameter) wreck of historic interest sunk on 25 February 1880

Who – 10 divers (see details on Dive Log) of a hard boat out of Rhyl Harbour. Paul and Mino are Dive Manager and Assistant Dive Manager respectively.

Where – Liverpool Bay 5 miles off Rhyl at 53 23.78N 03 33.18W in ~8.5m charted depth planned to be dived on mid-way between neaps and springs with HW of 7.6m at 1000hrs and LW 2.5m at 1615. If we dive at 1400 there will be 4m of tide to add to the charted depth.

When – depart Rhyl Harbour 1200 on Luna Sea 08-06-2025 . All divers need to be loaded on board prior to this time. Suggest gear is dropped at harbour next to Luna Sea at 0830 and then park in the harbour pay and display. NOTE – due to tides in Rhyl harbour skipper says we will be returning at around 2000hrs

What – Licence in place

Kit – full kit with sea weight, AS, DSMB, DSMB (may or may not be used), knife and snips or scissors for any microfilament net, spare tank in case we get a second dive opportunity (to be discussed with skipper). Hot drinks are provided on board but bring snacks and lunch. Boat – Luna Sea is insured for 10 divers, has toilet and changing area. Luna-Sea (Merlin), Rhyl (charterboats-uk.co.uk)

Weather – the bay is exposed to northerlies and a swell can build. The rule of thumb is that if its blowing a force 4 (11-16 knots, moderate breeze) it may be too rough. Also visibility under water in the bay depends on previous few days weather so a keen weather watch will be kept and the skipper consulted. For those that do not dive these waters it is suggested you might consider sea sickness remedies (personal choice but many use Stugeron).

Diving – skipper is likely to drop a shot line. Details will be in the hands of the skipper.

Safety – the boat has a ladder but care will be needed and a brief will be given. Clubs oxygen administration and first aid kit to be brought
