Shaun’s Diving Journey.

Shaun Wakefield began his scuba diving journey with a Try Dive on 23rd September 2022, his very first experience of breathing underwater. Inspired by that first session, he went on to begin his training within the club.

He completed his first open water dive on 21st October 2023 and went on to achieve his Ocean Diver qualification on 10th March 2024. 

Shortly afterwards, Shaun completed the BSAC Buoyancy and Trim course, achieving a Silver award, an excellent accomplishment at this stage, demonstrating strong control and confidence in the water.

About Shaun's training.

Through diving with more experienced members, Shaun quickly built his confidence and developed his skills further.

He went on to qualify as a Sports Diver on 26th April 2025.

In September, Shaun joined 13 other club members on a liveaboard trip to the Red Sea, where one of the highlights was diving the iconic SS Thistlegorm.

He is now progressing through his Dive Leader training.

Shaun’s journey is a fantastic example of what can be achieved through enthusiasm, commitment, and the support of a club. He continues to build his experience and is already looking ahead to further training and development.
